Dharma Realm Buddhist University (DRBU), established in 1976, is dedicated to liberal education, a tradition characterized by knowledge in the arts and sciences, self–cultivation, and the pursuit of wisdom. The university, located in Northern California (USA), is accredited by the WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC). We are officially open for admission 2023 in Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts and Master of Arts.

DRBU's four-year BA program in Liberal Arts puts students in direct conversations with seminal works of both Eastern and Western traditions – books that have shaped the world in which we live. Our core curriculum includes philosophy, literature, writing, language, mathematics, music, science, and language. In small, discussion-based classes, students deeply reflect on foundations of the human experience, exploring implications for both themselves and the wider world. 

Graduates of this Liberal Arts program acquire a breadth of knowledge, intellectual skills, habits of mind, and ethical sensibilities that are essential to success in almost any endeavor. The graduates are able to go on further study or work different jobs such as archivist, artist, event organizer, human resource specialist, journalist, public relation specialist, project manager, social worker, teacher, and writer. Moreover, good students could do one-year internship at DRBU after graduation to gain more practical work experience before advancing career development in outside companies.

Scholarship for Vietnamese students

The Metta Scholarship for Vietnamese Students is a need-based scholarship designed to support Vietnamese students interested in engaging with the unique pedagogy and course of study afforded by our BA in Liberal Arts program. All international students who hold or expect to receive a high school diploma or equivalent are eligible to apply. Receipt of the scholarship is contingent on a student’s successful admission to the program.
